Urbis Pattern

I was visiting an urban exhibition (urbis) with my sister before she went to New Zealand for 3 months…. One of the best bits was the graffiti installation:

My sis and I loved it so much that I was inspired to make her an amigurumi version for her birthday, made stripey as she is mad into stripes and it suited him!

So Urbis was made, parcelled up to her boyfriend’s to take out to New Zealand where he spent the next month bobbing around in the cab of their campervan, seeing penguins, snow snow and more snow!

Please note: US not UK crocheting abbreviations used.
I worked with a 4 or 3.5 mm hook and light worsted weight yarn. Black as MC white as CC
Worked in a continuous spiral.
inc=2sc in next stitch
dec=work sc decrease over next 2 stitches
3sc etc=sc in each of the next 3 stitches

Start all sections with magic ring.

1. sc x 6 (6)
2. *inc* x 6 (12)
3. *sc, inc* x 6 (18)
4. *2sc, inc* x 6 (24)
5. *3sc, inc* x 6 (30)
6-10 sc around (30)
11. *3sc, dec* x 6 (24)
12. *2sc, dec* x 6 (18)
13. *sc, dec* x 6 (12)
Leave long enough tail to sew to body

1. sc x 6 (6)
2. *inc* x 6 (12)
3. *sc, inc* x 6 (18)
4. *2sc, inc* x 6 (24) for stripes, switch to CC here. Alternate every 2 rounds, leaving yarn not used to hang at the back to pick up later…

6-13. sc around (30)
14. *3sc, dec* x 6 (24)
15. sc around (24)
16. *2sc, dec* x 6 (18)
17-19. sc around (18)
20. *sc, dec* x 6 (12)

Fasten off.

Feet with legs x2
1. sc x 6 (6)
2. *inc* x 6 (12)

5. in BLO dc around
6. in CC sc around (do not cut MC)
7. *sc x 6, dec* x 3 (21)

11. *sc x 2, dec* x 3 (9)
12. *sc , dec* x3 (6)
Stuff feet, keeping the sole of the shoes as flat as possible.
Switch back to MC. Sew in CC tail.
13-desired length of legs. sc around (6)

Make 1 disc fasten off, make 2nd disc and do not fasten off, but chain across width of head and join to disc 1.

Decide which way the shoes work best and sew in laces with MC.
Sew head and body openings together after stuffing and attach legs towards the front, but at the bottom of body.
